Gilson Snow Blower Gilson Snow Blower Products were manufactured
from 1966 all the way through to 1987. Many of the snow blower designs
ran for a decade or more and this made the Gilson machines easy to
repair. In fact many people could take parts scrounged from older snow
blowers and use them on their later model Gilson snow blowers. The
gilson snow blowers were sturdy, lasting decades as long as their users
took proper care of these machines. The Gilson brand began in 1855
and expanded over the years into all types of lawn and home equipment.
They were bought out by Lawnboy in 1988.
Whether you have a Gilson snow blower or some
other snow blower from another manufacturer, standard safety precautions
apply. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before doing any maintenance
work on these machines. Better to be safe than sorry as they say
and it only takes a second or two to remove the spark plug wire.... Gilson Snow blowers,
although they are older machines do not seem to have any collectors value. Even
if they are in good condition and working well for the owner, they still will
require repairs and maintenance before they can be resold. Bearings, belts ,
bushings are just a couple of the items that should be checked before you agree
to purchase a Gilson snow blower. This comment should not be interpreted to mean
they were not good snow blowers. In fact they were some of the best that were
manufactured. However they are now much older and they have been used, therefore
a good checkup should be made of any snow blower before you decide to purchase
a used snow blower. With Gilson
snow blowers, you may have a difficult time finding parts and will have to
scrounge repair shops looking for that particular part. You can also try
eBay to purchase a used machine and between yours and the one you purchase
may be able to scrounge sufficient parts to put together a really sound machine
that is pure Gilson. Don't be discouraged , there are many Gilsons out there
that may be close to working order which may assist in repairing your gilson
snow blower. Use eBay, Craig'slist and other auction online sites to find
the Gilson snow blower part you need.
