The John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E is packed with features. The engine is a 4 cycle Briggs and Stratton engine fine tuned for winter and providing John Deere Snow Thrower 928E13.5 pounds gross torque. With a 28 inch clearing width two stage design and steel augers, this snow thrower will meet most consumers needs. There are 6 forward and two reverse speeds and it comes with a 3 quart fuel tank.

Operators can use one hand to steer the John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E and the other to manage the chute direction and rotation. There is a push button 110V electric starter. This is not a battery operated starter. You can also start the engine with the standard recoil pull chord. There is also an aluminum lo-tone muffler for quieter operation and reduced noise. The console includes an electric chute rotation control with a 200 degree turning radius which you can control with one hand and steer with the other. The chute has a large opening for increased snow capacity.

This John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E  also comes with heated hand grips which are a big plus if you are blowing snow in sub zero degree weather were no matter what you do , your hands get cold. There is also an offset halogen headlight for additional visibility and safety during nighttime operation. There are heat treated reversible skid shoes which can also be replaced.

The fresh start fuel cap is standard and allows fuel stabilizer to be added to provide fresh fuel at all times. The engine is CARB compliant which means it meets most if not all emission requirements. The John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E does not qualify for the John Deere promise.

Delivery

At the time of the review there were limited quantities of the John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E in stock. Customers could arrange for in store pickup or also arrange for delivery for an additional charge. If you do plan to pick up your brand new snow thrower, you will need a small trailer that is rated for the  weight of the snow blower. Check with the dealer for weight ratings if you plan to pick up the snow blower and save on the delivery charge.

Accessories

There were no accessories listed on the John Deere web site, however most snow throwers have snow cabs, snow covers and tire chains as options for customers to consider. If you want to be protected from the wind and the blowing snow you may want to consider a snow cab which will protect you on 3 sides and make snow blowing and clearing a much more comfortable job.

Operators who must store the John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E outside exposed to the elements should consider the snow cover. It protects the snow thrower from the elements and UV radiation preserving the paint and the machine for a longer period than if you leave it exposed. Use the snow cover all year round if you must store your snow thrower outside.

Tire chains also will help if you have icy conditions and want to avoid slipping and sliding around while blowing snow.

Safety & Operation

The John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E is an excellent machine to use and when operated safely and properly will provide you with many years of snow blowing operation.

Review the manual prior to operating the snow thrower for the first time. Review all safety guidelines and operating guidelines. Perform a circle check each time prior to operating the snow thrower the first time each day. Check the level of oil in the engine and top up if needed. Most of the time engine oil will not be needed, however it is a good habit to get into with any engine. You can also check the age of the oil be assessing how dirty the oil is. This a good gauge of when you need to change the oil.

Fill up the fuel tank so that you do not run out while blowing snow. Only fill the fuel tank when the engine is cold to avoid any possibility of fire and if you spill fuel wait until it has evaporated before starting the engine.

Maintenance

Oil changes and lubrication of the auger shaft are  the main part of the maintenance tasks for modern snow blowers. Check the manual for all recommended maintenance procedures and timing. If you do not use your John Deere Dual Stage  Snow Thrower 928E very often, as a minimum change the oil in the engine at least once per year.
