  • Use a small shovel. It may take longer, but it will be easier overall
  • Stay hydrated, especially if you are out their a long time
  • Take breaks and set a time limit
  • Always lift with the legs, not with the back
  • Keep the back straight
  • Push the snow instead of lifting
  • If you are feeling chest pressure, out of breath or pain get help
