The Bolens Single Stage Snow Thrower S2P5C is a single stage snow thrower suitable for light snow conditions. The 208cc engine with a 21 inch clearing width will clear Bolens single stage snow thrower S2P5Cmost snow conditions. However since it is a single stage machine, it means that the auger must also throw the snow as well as pull the snow into the front of the machine. Other this issue, these machines work well and will clear your snow quite well. They are also much smaller than most snow blowers so they are easier to store as well.

Delivery

Most customers will have to arrange for delivery of their new snow blowers. They are far too big to take home in your car, so you will need a trailer, rent a van or arrange for delivery by the store that you are purchasing the snow blower from. There will be a charge for this service, but it will be the easiest way to arrange for your new snow blower to be delivered to your home.

Accessories

Most snow blowers can be purchased with tire chains to provide extra traction in icy situations. In addition, snow shields are also a good idea if you want to protect yourself from windy conditions and snow being blown back at you from the wind. Safety & Operation

This Bolens snow blower is a powerful machine. Treat the machine with safety in mind. Carefully read all of the safety guidelines in the manual prior to operating the machine for the first time and follow these guidelines to ensure that both you and the machine do not have an accident.

Prior to starting the Bolens Single Stage Snow Thrower S2P5C  the first time each day, perform a quick walk around check of the machine to ensure there are no loose parts and no leaking fluids. Check the engine oil to ensure that it is at the correct level as specified by the manual. Top up if necessary. Fill the fuel tank while the engine is cold and prior to using the machine. If you do spill fuel, wait until it has fully evaporated prior to starting the engine. Never spill fuel on a hot engine to avoid fires and always fill the fuel tank outdoors to avoid any possibility of vapors going into your house.

Finally never point the chute in the direction of people, buildings or cars to avoid any possible damage and accidents. Ice can be thrown at high speed from the chute. If they hit something, it can cause a lot of damage.

Maintenance

Like all snow blowers or snow throwers, maintenance is important for your machine to operate at a peak level for many years. Change the engine oil regularly, check the belts for tightness, change the spark plug as required and grease any spots outlined in the manual. If you need to leave the snow blower outside all year round, cover the machine with a proper cover to keep it looking new and avoid deterioration of the tires and metal components.

  1. Just bought this machine but have not used it due to snow fall. Liked the bigger 208 cc power more engine, the new shrouded version which covers the gas tank and top of engine. Has the larger 9 ” x 2″ wheels, the controls are all clustered together for convenience, the handle & fold down design, all steel powder coated welded housing and the rubber stitched paddles rather than all 1 piece plastic. Appears to have a bit smaller paddles and an 10 ” intake rather than 12″ or 13″ intake. Seems to be very solid and very mobile. Waiting for the snow to try it out. Have not seen many reviews. would appreciate some feed back from the owners who have this machine. Picked this one over the Toro 1800 model, both were about the same price.

  2. Brian Percival. Says:

I bought one identical to this Bolens 5 hp in 2011 for $75. The auger was broken and needed the end plate welded back on. I replaced the worn out rubber paddles, $50. The engine is reliable and starts every time. Oil changes each fall. Handles 10cms of dry snow with ease. It doesn’t like spring wet snow. The chute clogs up. It,s Nov 2020 and dragged it from the corner of the garage and started right up after I cleaned the plug and changed the oil. Great machine for town lots with light to medium snow fall.

  3. Does the auger help you thru the snow? Or do i have to push

  4. you should let the machine do the work for you. in heavy snow, take a smaller cut.

  5. I purchased this same Bolens snowblower, as a used unit, starts and runs great, however not sure it is running at its max rpm @ full throttle, can’t not find any info as to what max rpm should be for this powermore 208cc. I think the previous owner was a “tinker” and may have adjusted the speed control set screw?Anyone know correct rpm setting, appreciate your assistance

  6. Both this same bolens SB last year, hard to find rpm specs for the powermore 208cc engine, looking for the rpm settings for low and high. Appreciate response Thanks JD

  7. I have Bolens 5.5 hp 21 in snow blower electric and manual start i wanted change the engine oil please let me know what type of engine oil i have to use and how many litters
    thank you

  8. typically the manufacturer will call for 5W30 engine oil, however, you should check the Bolen manual for your snow blower. You can search online and download the manual for your specific snowblower engine.
